January 2010

Dear Joel,   Staff Picture December 2009

We just wanted to tell all of you who are the precious body of believers here at Mountain Bible Church how much we appreciate you!!! Throughout 2009 you have loved on us the staff, supported us with your giving, faithfully prayed for the needs of family and friends and continued to generously show God's goodness and graciousness to Payson and our world! Thank You!

Penny DeGroot New Year Planning

Remember if you have changed your address during the past year please update our office so that Giving Statements will not get lost.  Also, if you are donating by "Cash" and would like us to keep track of that, simply put your cash in an envelope with your name (and address if new) and we'll keep track of that for you.   If you would like to donate to a special cause, i.e., (Benevolent Fund, Building Fund, Monday Night Dinner's Fund), etc. you don't have to write two checks.  Put the amount and where in your memo of your check.  It's that easy.  Thank you for your continued support!

Our Interim Pastor Larry Finch "GOD IS BIGGER THAN..."

Whatever problems we face, God is always bigger.  When we see ourselves and our circumstances relative to God and His wisdom and power, our problems seem small by comparison.

Pastor Larry's Sunday morning message series in January will be a great time not only for our own congregation to be encouraged, but also to invite others to attend with you.

January 10 - "God is Bigger Than My Fears"
January 17 - "God is Bigger Than My Worries"
January 24 - "God is Bigger Than My Guilt"

High School Winter Camp Register Today

Hope everyone had a wonderful time over the holidays with family and friends!

God is blessing what is going on in Student Ministries! Students that have never been to church are hearing for the first time who Jesus really is. Kids are asking questions, and my staff and I are loving the opportunity we have to share this information with these students. Certain students are pursuing a stronger and deeper relationship with the Lord. Continue to pray for the teenagers and for our winter camps coming up, that God shows our students how much they need Him.
Jr. High Winter Camp - January 8-10, 2010

One of our student leaders, Caleb Harrison's dad had a falling accident at work a couple of weeks ago. Eddie Harrison is recovering, all surgeries went well. He is doing physical therapy twice a week for his wrist. The Harrison family want to thank everyone for the prayers and the financial support.

Junior High Student Ministries Welcomes Chris Barr

Chris BarrChris Barr has been serving as unofficial leader of the Junior High Livewire group on Wednesday nights throughout the last year.  Well it's official, Chris and his wife Dani,  daughters, Savannah and Bella and son Grayson are now leading the Junior High Ministries program.  They are thrilled to serving our highly energetic group or 60+ middle school ladies and gentlemen.  Of course they can't do it without help of the parents and others like Paul and Ginger Liddell who have also been serving for many years in this age level.  Joe Sanchez is still heading up the student ministries areas, but is thrilled that Chris officially has the title to help parents understand why that Chris is taking these kids here and there.  Speaking of there: JR HIGH WINTER CAMP is right around the corner so pray for all going that this will be a safe and blessed time!Full Sized Flyer for Junior High Winter Camp

Pastor Search

Craig Matthews

Once again the pastor search team finds itself securely in God's hands.  We have been in relationship with a very promising potential lead pastor.  Our interview with him went quite well and we are now checking references.  The next step is a follow up interview and face-to-face meeting.  There are a few other pastors that we are communicating with that have great potential but we do not have all the information we need from them as of yet.
We hope you had a Merry Christmas and may you be blessed in the year to come.

Crown Financial

Crown Ministries

Are issues with your personal finances rising to a flash point? Is that credit card balance getting increasingly larger? Are you at a loss as to what to do or where to turn? Maybe the 10 week intensive Crown Financial Small Group study is what you need. In the Christian community today there is more blindness, rationalization, and unclear thinking about money than anything else. This class will bring clarity and a biblical perspective on such subjects as managing your finances, becoming debt free, budgeting, borrowing and lending, seeking counsel and much more. It could change your life! Sign-ups begin January 3rd. Watch for the table.

Jovial Jokes from Jana

Jana's Jovial Jokes Logo

One day when my daughter Azaeleah was 3 years old, she asked her dad, "Papa, was Joseph a shepherd?"
"No honey.  He was a carpenter," her dad told her.
"Oh, then Mary was a shepherd," she said.
"No, honey.  I don't think she was one either."
"Yes she was," stated Azaeleah matter of factly.  "Mary had a little lamb."
