Top Ten Times to Hold Your
Tongue
|
|
1.When you're tempted to say, "I told you
so."
2. When you want to complain about the weather, the traffic, the
president, your spouse, your kids... anything. Think about how
grumbling affects others, and choose to focus on the positive.
3. When you're tempted to correct someone on a minor point as
they relate a story or experience.
4. When you have information that might discourage others.
Don't tell labor horror stories to a woman who's pregnant for the
first time, and don't mention that someone you know of died from the
disease that your friend's family member just contracted.
5. When you're tempted to tell something about yourself for the
purpose of impressing someone.
6. When you think someone has made a poor decision, but it's
too late for them to change their mind. And certainly, don't tell
them if they'd come to you in the first place, they wouldn't be in
the trouble they're in.
7. When you're criticized. A response may be called for,
but it is usually best not to give it in the heat of the moment.
8. When you have a criticism about something around the
church. It will only be destructive to call someone else's
attention to the flaw you've noticed. Talk to the person who
can make a difference.
9. When you're tempted to judge or criticize someone.
10. When you have information that makes someone look bad.

Pastor Search Update
|
|

|
The pastor search is continuing with great care.
Within the last month the team has evaluated several new prospects,
including one great candidate from Arizona who decided he still had
work to do in his current location. Please continue to pray for
discernment for the search team and for the man that God has
already chosen to be our next senior pastor.

Dear Joel,
How many people struggled with tongue issues yesterday
or today? Keep those "Popsicle Sticks", oh I mean
those tongue depressors ever handy! God's Word speaks
about the tongue over 120 times including: Proverbs 15:4 "Gentle
words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the
spirit."

From Pastor Kraig
The first men's
breakfast was great!! We had 43 men in attendance. The
kitchen crew did a superb job preparing breakfast. Tom Hillegas was
our moderator and did a fine job. The next breakfast will be on
October 30. The topic will be Man and Prayer. Come and
invite a friend.
Stonehenge???
Just 90 miles from
London is a pillar arrangement of some sort of construction project
by the small town of Amesbury. We have a similar thing
happening in Arizona 90 miles from Phoenix. The Ramada is
moving along thanks to the hard work of many men from our church
body.
School Tutors
If you signed up to tutor in the elementary schools
and have not received the necessary paper work, please stop by the
office and see Pastor Kraig.
What a blessing was
Disability Sunday the last week in September!!! Continue to
pray for Jack and Barbara Gooch with the passing of sweet Kaitie!

From Pastor Joe--Youth Ministries
Report from See You At the Pole: Tuesday night of the
22nd we had a See You At The Pole ralley, it was awesome. Churches
came together and our youth building was packed with students. It was
great to see students praying with other students from other
churches. We had about 130 students. As for the event Wednesday morning,
we got some amazing pictures of students praying and worshipping our
God on campus. What a huge testimony that was for the students to be
able to do that and not be told that they couldn't. Students were
walking by not knowing what was going on and asking questions. I
heard a student ask another student, What is this? And the student
replied, "We are just praising our Lord for everything He has
done for us." I was excited when I heard that, because it is not
about us, it's all about Him. Please be praying the the churches in
this community to continue to work together and make a difference in
this town.
Fall Break starts on October 5th and ends on October 16th. We will

will be at building C from 9:00pm to 1:00am. And the girls are having
a sleepover at the Wrights house starting at 7:30pm. Also High School
will be having a Scavenger Hunt on Monday October 12th. It will be
from 5:00pm to 8:00pm and dinner will be provided. On Saturday
October 17 the High School Youth Group will be doing a car wash and a
bake sale outside of Jiffy Lube and Bashas. It will be from 9:00am to
2:00pm. All the money goes to the Drama Program at the High School.
Junior High Youth Group is having a costume party on Saturday October
31st. It will be from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.

Children and Family Ministries
Sunday during
announcements, I told you about a young girl named Jordan. She
is 15 years old and a cancer survivor. She has gone through
chemo and her cancer is now in remission. Through a group
called Outdoor Experience 4 All, Jordan got to live out her dream,
which was to go Elk Hunting in Arizona.
Dean Pederson and I were
privileged to guide her on the hunt. Hunting camp was a little
nicer than I am used to, we had a camp cook, MBC's own Bob DePugh,
and what a cook he is! Then we had a tent that was the size of
a 2 bedroom home. Jordan's dad and brother were also
there. With Dean Pederson telling hunting stories, everyone
seemed to feel right at home.
I found that sometimes
hunting is the best time to get to know someone. After Dean,
Jordan and Myself had closed the distance on the Elk and were waiting
for our chance, we were laying on a hilltop, peeking over watching
the four bull elk sparing with each other. We spent a few hours
just enjoying God's creation. I thought, "what a great time
to talk to Jordan about her faith."
She said that she was a Christian and she loved old hymns. Jordan
told me that her parents go to a Bible church, but the youth group
was kind of clicky and she just didn't seem to fit in. So, she
attended a LDS church that welcomed her and the people were so
friendly. My heart sank as she told me this. This was
such a huge reminder for me to go out of my way to make all feel
welcome. I would ask that you all pray for Jordan.

CHRISTMAS
for our Military Join us, once again, in
spreading Christmas joy into the lives of men and women around the
world who are protecting our freedoms. Many will be
lonely, far from family or loved ones at Christmas time. A card
and note of encouragement from you and your family could make a huge
difference for them. We received several heartwarming notes of
thanks from servicemen & women who received your cards last year
and were blessed by them.
We have a limited supply of cards this year, so we are asking that
you consider donating a box of cards that you & your family sign.
DO NOT
SEAL OR PUT POSTAGE ON THE CARDS. Drop them at
the Women's Ministry Table by November 1st. All cards will be
shipped together to arrive by Christmas (no postage cost to you).
If you are unable to donate a box of cards, please stop by the
Women's Ministry table to pick up a box as long as our supply
lasts.

How many people laughed out loud, LOL, this month when
you got the email that said
"Heaven has openings"?
Hopefully you did something about it and acted in some
way to help fill those spots!
