Dear Joel,
One
thing I learned this month, in Arizona after record rain
falls and then almost record wet heavy snow, don't park under a
tree. Even if you are fearful of getting stuck in the high snow
in a parking lot it is better than what might come at you from
above. The Lord is gracious and compassionate and He provides
all good things we need. We are really excited about what new
things He is bringing our way such as the CCN (Church
Communication Network) Satellite Ministry opportunities, GenX, Shoot for the Heart,
Skypeing our Missionaries in Sunday Services and many other new
challenges and blessings! This newsletter is coming out late
today, because of a Beth Moore Simulcast which encouraged us to
Prepare Our Hearts and to deal with our Insecurities!!!
There are many existing connection groups and on going ministries
that you could be a valuable part!!! Why not check out our
website again for Spring Connection
Groups or Spring Women's
Bible Studies. Pray for the many classes that are going on
weekly like Kingdom Builders,
Love and Respect, Divorce Care, Grief Share or LaRoca Spanish
Church who are also going through a Lead Pastor Search right
now! Blessings on you during this wonderful month!

Pastor Jim and
Tammy Harper Candidating this month
The
pastor search team has recommended Pastor Jim Harper to be our next
lead pastor, and the elder board has affirmed that
recommendation. The next step will be a candidating week
which is scheduled for February 14-21. Jim will be teaching at
both services on February 14 and 21 and will be here the entire week
in between. The schedule for the candidating week is not yet
complete, but will include time for Jim to attend several MBC
ministry functions and meet as many people as he can. Please make
an effort to meet Jim and his wife, Tammy, to get familiar with
them. There will be a special meeting, tentatively scheduled
for February 28th, for members to vote yea or nay to call Jim to be
our next lead pastor. Thank you for your continued prayers
and support. You can hear some of Jim's sermons at

From Pastor
Kraig
Men's Ministry
This has been a great month to see God work in the lives of men at
Mountain Bible and in the Community. The first shoot for the
heart meeting was a great success with 130 in attendance. Many
men there had not been to a Church or have not been to a Church in a
long time. Clifford Pirch did an outstanding job and praised
God for His goodness in the past year. Look for the next
gathering in March in the bulletin.
The Men's breakfast was well attended last month and the lesson was
on relationships and how we need each other. Many men were
encouraged and thankful for the encouraging words and acts in their lives.
The next men's breakfast will be February 26 at 6:15 in building
C.
Kingdom
Builders
There was a lot of smiles and laughs at last months after Christmas
party. I heard that Dean Borgman got the best gift! You
are invited to attend the Valentines dinner put on by Gen X on
February 13th. The cost is $10.00 and you can get your tickets
at the Gen X table. We will be bowling in March and take a
train trip in April. The class meets Sunday at 10:30 in
building C or you can attend a class taught by Bob McQueen at 8:45 in
building A. Kingdom Builder is for those who are close to 50,
and up whose children are grown.
Connection
Groups
Our small group ministry has started for the winter and spring.
If you would like to join a group pick up a connection brochure in
the kiosk or go online at MountainBible.org. We all need to
build relationships and practice all of the "one anothers"
in Scripture. We need all of you in our Church family!

Sunday School
Team of the Month
Andy
and Abigail Pederson are a blessing to Mountain Bible
Children's Ministry. They
have been teaching 2nd service Pre-School and
Kindergarten for the past year. Abigail
is working on her Masters of Professional Counceling focusing on
christain counceling. Andy and Abigail love the children they
get the privelege of teaching Jesus's love to. Andy is a model
to the boys by getting right down on the floor playing with them and
getting them to use there imagination. They both have a strong
passion on creating a foundation of faith for the kids. Abigail
and Andy teach the "why we do what we do" in a creative way
that shows the love of Jesus. Abigail says "they have been
blessed through the experience of teaching the word to the kids and
are witness to the budding seed". If you see Andy and
Abigail around say Thank you for what they do for your little
ones!

Wikipedia to
the rescue!!!
Since Cache is
designed to be a communication tool, I think it is time to work on
our communication.
I
was always confused when some people used the term Kiosk for
the Gazebo
outside our building A. Coming from the Corporate world with
many airports and electronic booths to touch a screen to get my
information I was confused by this communication usage.
Thankfully Wikipedia
came to my rescue:
An information
kiosk
(or information booth) dispenses free information in the form of
maps, pamphlets, and other literature, and/or advice offered by an
attendant.
An electronic kiosk (or computer kiosk or
interactive kiosk) houses a computer terminal that often employs
custom kiosk software designed to function flawlessly while
preventing users from accessing system functions. Indeed, kiosk mode
describes such a mode of software operation. Computerized kiosks may
store data locally, or retrieve it from a computer network. Some
computer kiosks provide a free, informational public service, while
others serve a commercial purpose. Touchscreens, trackballs, computer
keyboards, and pushbuttons are all typical input devices for
interactive computer kiosk.
Being from
the Midwest I would call that newly constructed structure a pavilion...once
again Wikipedia
saves me and gives me an explanation that ties it to an Arizona
thing:
Pavilion may refer to a
free-standing structure sited a short distance from a main residence,
whose architecture makes it an object of pleasure. Large or small,
there is usually a connection with relaxation and pleasure in its
intended use. A pavilion built to take advantage of
a view is referred to as a gazebo.
A gazebo is a pavilion structure, sometimes
octagonal, in parks, gardens, and spacious public areas.
Gazebos are freestanding or attached to a garden wall, roofed, and
open on all sides; they provide shade, shelter, ornamental features
in a landscape, and a place to rest. Some gazebos in public parks are
large enough to serve as bandstands or rain shelters.
Ramada is a hotel chain owned and
operated by Wyndham Worldwide.
The name
"Ramada" is derived from the Spanish term "rama"
(meaning branch)[1] and was applied to temporary open air structures
called Ramadas that were made of brush or
branches (similar to an arbor) and were popular in Arizona
during harvest time.[2]. Company websites commonly refer to the
structure as a "shady resting place."[3
Ramadas have traditionally been
constructed with branches or bushes by aboriginal Americans living in
the region. However, the term today is also applied to permanent
concrete, wooden, or steel structures used to shelter objects or
people from the sun. For example, public parks in desert areas of the
United States may contain ramadas with picnic tables,
restrooms, water sources, etc. Since sunlight is more of an
environmental hazard than wind or snow or rain in this part of the
world, a roof alone provides substantial shelter, even if there are
no walls.
In the southwestern
United States, a ramada is a temporary or permanent
shelter equipped with a roof but no walls, or only partially
enclosed.
For example our own
Parks and Recreation Department on their web site describes: The
Green Valley Park provides three lakes having a total surface area of
13.1 acres, 17.2 acres of grass, trees and shrubs, three picnic armadas.(wait
whats an armadas?
I didn't know we had 3 picnic Spanish Fleet of Ships in our park?)..
Yet they describe the similiar structure: At Rumsey Park is an
80-acre facility dedicated to active recreation in the
midst of a picturesque forest setting. The park contains five
picnic ramadas
that range in seating capacity from 20 - 250 people.
OK now that we have
that settled we have a Ramadas
for all of you southwestern Arizonians/(Pavilion for
those of us from the Midwest) with an Information Kiosk (for
you European shoppers) or a Gazebo
(while ours is only 6 sided not octagonal) next to it... what
ever you do don't call that big new structure a Gazebo!!!
Oops, we did at the Annual Business Meeting Last Sunday Night...I'm
so confused.

Don't
miss the opportunity to make your voice heard----become a member of
MBC!

These
are exciting times at Mountain Bible Church. That is not
surprising with the many ministry activities we have underway, but
there is also something very special taking place at this time.
After nearly two years of intense and dedicated work, the Pulpit search
committee has been led to a man that they have recommended to
the Elder board as our next Lead pastor. Jim Harper and his
wife Tammy, from Oceanside, CA have visited Payson, have had several
interactions with the search committee, and have met with
other members of the MBC leadership team as well. The Elders
have concurred with the conclusions of the search committee, and the
Harpers will be in Payson later this month for further discussions.
As part of the candidating process, Jim will be filling our pulpit
for two consecutive Sundays in February. This will give the
congregation an opportunity to form their own opinions regarding a
"fit" between Jim and Tammy and Mountain Bible.
Following their visit, there will be a special congregational meeting
to vote on whether or not the church should extend a call to Jim and
Tammy to come to Mountain Bible. According to our church
by-laws, you must be a member of Mountain Bible to vote on this
important item of church business. So, if you are not yet a
member of Mountain Bible, and you want to participate in this very
important congregational vote, the Elders urge you to contact the
church office immediately to make arrangements for membership.
This
class will be February 10th 6-8 pm in building A with Pastor Kraig.

High
School Winter Camp & Mission Trip

We
are very excited about some things that are happening in the High
School ministry. We leave for winter camp on February 12th and
get back on the 15th. Some of our students have stepped it up
and have invited their non-Christian friends. Please be praying for
this camp and that God works in these student's lives. Thank you to
all of you that have helped some students financially go to camp, we
greatly appreciate it! After camp we are starting some small
groups for students that want to grow deeper in their
relationship with God. Please keep these students in prayer.
High School mission trip to Immanuel Mission is March 8-12.

Message

To
honor the Payson Fire Department:
A grandfather was delivering his grandchildren to their home one day
when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the
fire truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started discussing
the dog's duties."They use him to keep crowds back," said
one child."No," said another. "He's just for good
luck." A third child brought the argument to a
close."They use the dogs," she said firmly, "to find
the fire hydrants."
Children's Logic: "Give me a sentence about a public
servant," said a teacher. The small boy wrote: "The
fireman came down the ladder pregnant." The teacher took
the lad aside to correct him. "Don't you know what pregnant
means?" she asked. "Sure," said the young boy
confidently. 'It means carrying a child."
