Kingdom
Builders
The Kingdom Builders class at 10:30 will begin a
study of the book of Acts. This is an exciting book which speaks
of missions and the spreading of the gospel. There is much to
learn about the early church and how it applies to us. Kingdom
Builders are roughly 50 plus but all are invited. We meet in
building C (The Activity Center).
Camp-out on the rim. If you are interested in
camping with the Kingdom Builders class Aug. 26-28 with your tent
or RV there are four spots left. Contact Larry Fait at 474-2851.
It is always a great time of food, games, fishing, etc.. Most
importantly you will build lasting relationships.
Day trip to
Jerome
The Kingdom Builders will be having lunch together
in Cornville before heading to the old mining town of Jerome.
This will be on September 17 and you must sign up with Donna
Fischer in the Kingdom Builder class or call her at 468-1450
Men's Ministry
The monthly men's breakfast will begin September
30 at 6:15 in building C. This year's study is called Forged by
Fire.
Wake-Up Call For God's People
Sunday
September 11,
at six in building A (the Worship Center) Mountain
Bible will be hosting a simulcast broadcast featuring Joel
Rosenberg and Anne Graham Lotz. This seminar will focus on end
times and how the Church can be ready. Admission is
free.

A Penny Saved...
|
Happy August! As promised I said I would give you
some IRS updates. But first, here is some exciting news for those
of you that do all their bill paying on line.
I am working with Neloa at our bank (National Bank
of AZ) to set up an automatic deduction for those of you that
want to have your tithes, gifts and offerings automatically
deducted from your checking or savings. I will be providing more
information once we are set up for this - and of course, more
detailed information.
Now, onto the IRS news....for those of you that
keep track of your mileage for your tax return, the mileage rates
has changed July 1st. A little confusing because they are one
rate for the first 6 months and another for the second half of
the year. The rates are: Business rates went from 51 to 55.5
cents, Medical and Moving went from 19 to 23.5 cents and
charitable rates stayed the same at 14 cents per mile.
On a banking note - as technology progresses, the
banks are using check readers verses manually keying in the
checks. This is important to know because as you write your
check, the numbers need to be VERY legible. Each month as I
record your contribution, I have to look at several spelled out
amounts because the numbers are such that I need to verify. I
have witnessed the banks making mistakes - and some might be for
this very reason.
Also, as a reminder, we have an account set up
with Edward Jones that accepts stock and bonds should you wish to
donate any investments to the church. If you need any information
on this, please give me a call.
Your friend, Penny

Back to School.....
The summer holiday was over and young Jack returned to
Wicor school.
Only two days later his teacher phoned his mother
to tell her that Jack was misbehaving.
'Wait a minute,' mother said. 'I had Jack with me
for six weeks and I never called you once when he misbehaved.
*********************
Nathan comes home from his first day at school.
Mother asks, 'What did you learn today?'
He replies, 'Not enough. I have to go back tomorrow.'
****************************
Mom: How did you find school today?
Youngster: I simply hopped off the bus - and there it was.
******************************
Mia: I think we need a new teacher.
Mom: Why is that?
Mia: Our teacher doesn't know anything, she keeps asking us for
the answers.
***********************************
When Dad came home he was astonished to see Vic
sitting on a horse, writing something.
'What on earth are you doing there?' he asked.
'Well, the teacher told us to write an essay on
our favorite animal.' Answered Vic, 'That's why I'm here and
that's why Sara's sitting in the goldfish bowl.'

Dear Joel, ---Sacrificial
Servant
I remember the first Sunday Tammy and I pulled
slowly into the parking lot at Mountain Bible. I don't
remember my first words, but they sounded something like this:
"Wow, look how clean and nice everything looks.
These people care about their church! "
As it turns out, our immediate impression was
right. Mountain Bible Church is full of people who care
about their church, and it is important to us what other
people see when they pull onto our property. It's important
to us what people think about the God our church
represents. That said, giving people a good impression
costs something. It is a direct by-product of a lot of
sacrificial effort on the part of many who embrace MBC as 'home'.
Years ago, when my children were young, I once read
a parenting tip that sounded something like this: "Watch
for your kids to do something right, and call them out on it!"
As most parents know, it's usually the other way around.
Our vision is usually 20/20 when our kids are up to no
good. The facts are, it's really easy... natural, actually,
to catch people doing good things at MBC. Our Deacons are
prime examples. I typically pull in for church on Sundays
between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m.. The first person I typically
catch in the act is Sean Mears blowing debris off the parking lot
- often with his son Ryan. When Sean can't make it,
his reinforcements always show up in force. Approaching the
office door, it's obvious that Sunny Clark and Walt Herd have
been working their magic on our church facilities. Next, I
typically catch our Deacon of the Month and team sprucing up the
Ramada so it will be inviting for new guests arriving for coffee
after the service. Speaking of coffee, where would we be
without Nancy Berea and her refreshment crew. Slimmer?
Maybe, but not nearly as happy!
Naming names is difficult because the number to
'catch in the act' is far too great. Suffice to say that we
are blessed with a surplus of servants who take it upon
themselves to make Mountain Bible a great place to fellowship,
worship and, of course, serve. Thanks to all sacrificial
servants out there...and I'll be watching!

From Marilyn Pate
We are on the move, gearing
up for fall, with many opportunities for women to enjoy a
blessing!
PRAYER GARDEN OPEN HOUSE & TOUR
Take a
little time to be refreshed as you enjoy a tour through the
Prayer Garden that's been created by God and our wonderful Girl
Time Gardeners group. These gals have worked very
hard (and roped in many guys to add muscle power along the way)
to bring this place of beauty, peace and serenity to Mountain
Bible's campus. It is there for YOUR enjoyment and special moments
with God.
Following
both services on Sunday, August 7th, you have an opportunity to
join a brief tour through the garden...see the crosses, benches,
landscaping and all that contributes to this special setting
right out our front door. There are neighborhood folks
who regularly stroll through our garden and are blessed. Don't
miss your chance to do so!
DON'T MISS our final
summer activity...the Girl Time Gathering "Exercise Your
Soul" on Thursday, August 25th, 6:30 to 8 pm,
with Felicia Moore speaking. Just as we stretch physically
to strengthen our bodies, we also need times of spiritually
stretching our souls. We'll explore both! Come
dressed comfortably for a bit of a stretching (exercise gear or
loose clothing appropriate). Sign-up at the Women's Ministry
Table beginning August 7th. Cost $3
FALL BIBLE STUDIES: A number
of classes have been scheduled for Thursday mornings and some
evenings, as well. Check out your options at the WM Table
and sign-up beginning August 21st. Our
kick-off event will be Thursday, September 8th, 8:30 -
11 a.m. Babysitting provided.
By now you've heard about the
BETH MOORE "LIVING PROOF" SIMULCAST scheduled
for Saturday, September 10th from 8:30 a.m. - 4
p.m. Beth will be speaking live at a special Living Proof
women's conference in Lubbock, Texas, and we are privileged to
participate in that conference with technology that translates it
into our time zone (that means we attend the conference without
airline fares, lodging or meal costs!). This will be a great day
of fun, laughter, learning and fellowship with each other!
Tickets are $25 (includes lunch), available now at the Women's
Ministry Table, the church office and Oasis Christian
Bookstore. Don't miss it!
WOMEN OF FAITH CONFERENCE: SEPTEMBER 23-24

loves us more than we know. He gives us more than we can ask or
dream. He's unrestrained . . .excessive . . . outrageous . . .
Over the Top.
Cost for full conference & lunch both days is $99 per person,
OR if we have a group of 10 or more the cost drops to $89. To be
part of a group (seats together & reduced rate), call Penny

Well, another summer here
and gone...
It
sure went fast! Student Ministries had another summer of great
camps. Over 40 of us from each ministry went west for Summer
Camps in to California. What a blessing it was to have the
volunteer staff, finances, and prayer from the best church in
history, supporting us. I can't say thank you enough, as a church
body, for the blessings you have been to the students here at
Mountain Bible! Please continue to extend a hand or a word of
encouragement to the youth as you see them at church or around
town. It was also wonderful to be in service with you last
Sunday. My heart is blessed by seeing your acceptance of our
youth and they loved worshipping along side of all of you! We
will be in with you again in September and I'm sure it will be
even more exciting and wonderful! (I will try to hold it together
during announcementsJ)
