so, I will be spending the next few weeks following up. Again, I
would like to thank everyone that helped you did a great job.

The
teacher came up with a good problem. "Suppose," she asked the
second-graders, "there were a dozen sheep and six of them jumped
over a fence. How many would be left?"
"None," answered little Norman.
"None? Norman, you don't know your arithmetic."
"Teacher, you don't know your sheep. When one goes, they all
go!"
-----
Teacher:
Why are you late, Joseph?
Joseph: Because of a sign down the road.
Teacher: What does a sign have to do with your being late?
Joseph: The sign said, "School Ahead, Go Slow!"
-----
The
teacher of the earth science class was lecturing on map reading.
After explaining about latitude, longitude, degrees and minutes the
teacher asked, "Suppose I asked you to meet me for lunch at 23
degrees, 4 minutes north latitude and 45 degrees, 15 minutes east
longitude...?"
After a confused silence, a voice volunteered, "I guess you'd be
eating alone."
-----
The child comes home from his first day at school. Mother asks,
"What did you learn today?"
The kid replies, "Not enough. I have to go back tomorrow."

Dear Joel,
Hope your summer was a family success! Your
family at MBC is a little tired after 2 youth camps, family
camp, VBS and assorted vacations, but we are rejoicing in the many
souls who put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ, others who
worked hard to build and strengthen family bonds, others who made
strong statements of commitment walking with our Lord, and many new
faces who want to be a part of our MBC family. Praise the Lord
who through His Spirit continues to work and move at MBC.

What's on the
MBC Horizon?
When Tammy and I were visiting Mountain Bible last
spring during our 'candidating' process, we were told of the monsoons
that were sure to come in July. Monsoons? In the desert?
Maybe exotic, tropical jungles but not Payson! I was wrong. About
the time July rolled around, the ominous clouds began peeking over
the Rim... methodically marching toward our vulnerable village.
Frankly, after seven years of So Cal's sunny and seventy two, it's
been a welcome reprieve in many ways. Bring it on!
What is on the horizon for Mountain Bible this
fall? Much more than I can mention in a few paragraphs, but
let's hit the high points, shall we? Building from our vision -
and we always attempt to plan based upon that - let's consider three
major events coming this fall stemming from Know, Grow and Go.
KNOW: The 'know' aspect
of our vision primarily involves coming to know Jesus as our Savior,
and, through Him, worshipping and serving the Heavenly Father toward
expanding His Kingdom on earth. Coming to know God through Christ,
however, is just the beginning. The Christian life should be a
lifetime of growth in the knowledge of who God is, what He's done for
us and what He wants to continue to do in our lives. This fall, we
will be diving into the letter of 1st Peter together. Peter was
most likely in Rome at the time of the writing - possibly even
contemplating execution at the hands of the evil emperor Nero.
He directed his writing to pockets of struggling Christians
throughout the empire, dispersed from their homelands due to growing
persecution from the Jewish sector. However, they were finding
life equally challenging in foreign exile. How would they
respond? Where would they turn? From this context, Peter writes
to the importance of living in Godly submission to all - even
Godless, immoral governments - toward maintaining a strong Christian
witness regardless of earthly circumstances. I believe it will
be an intriguing study as many here at MBC and in our surrounding
community are striving to remain faithful to God through challenging
cultural and economic times.
GROW: This is
the more relational aspect of our vision. Are each of us
intentionally striving to grow in our relationship with God and one
another? How does this happen? For the fall, we are reshaping
and redesigning our Connection Groups ministry. Our goal is to
start eight new small groups that will be focused primarily on going
deeper in relationship with other believers toward more effectively
living out the "One Anothers' of scripture (..."love one
another; support one another; encourage one another";
etc). Please pray for us as we work to develop the leadership
needed to give guidance to these new groups. Please pray for
the existing group leaders, that we can be successful in reshaping these
groups toward being as relationally effective as possible. Pray
that we could be prepared for a successful launch of our Connection
Groups ministry by mid-September.
GO: We are beginning
to plan toward the largest outreach effort at Mountain Bible in the
last several years. On Sunday, October 24th, we will be holding
an outreach Sunday at MBC entitled 'Celebrate Friends' Sunday.
Planning for this event will begin August 12th in earnest as our
complete ministry leadership team will meet and develop the big
picture for this exciting outreach opportunity. As details
emerge, you - as a key player in this outreach - will be brought into
the loop. Start to pray now that God will do amazing things in MBC
Payson at large through this new outreach effort.
There you have it...KNOW, GROW AND GO.
Let's expect some God - sized things to happen around
Mountain Bible this fall at MBC!

Life Mission
from Pastor Kraig
Sometimes God has an interesting way of reminding you
of times in your past when He has spoken to you. I was reading
an excerpt of a new book by Bill Hybels called The Power of A Whisper
and for reasons I fully do not understand God spoke to me through some
penetrating questions that Bill had to answer early on in his
life. What are you going to do to serve people, because people
are the only commodities that make it to the next life, and what do I
do with my one and only life? These questions brought back a
flood of memories about how unlikely I would end up at a Bible
University. I did not know anyone at the school and no one from
my home Church attended this school. Then God gifted me and I
ended up in ministry for the last 28 years of my life. After
serving in two churches, God called me to Mountain Bible. Now I
am here to love God and love people. How is God calling you to serve?
If there is a way that I can serve you or pray with you please
call me, Pastor Kraig

Women's
Ministry from Marilyn Pate
Ladies - are you
looking for a place to "belong", to "fit in", to
"serve", and to grow spiritually? Then, you are
probably looking for our MBC Women's Ministry! We have that
"place" for you!
Our Mission Statement says "As sisters united in Christ, through
the power of the Holy Spirit, we love and encourage one another in
spiritual growth and acts of service which reflect the love of Jesus
to others within our 'community' and beyond".
We carry out that Mission in very practical ways that we want to
share with you. We also want to hear from you and get your
feedback, so we're asking you to complete the Evaluation/Survey form
included with our latest Women's Ministry Newsletter...or go online
to www.mountainbible.org/women to let us
know. Since we are already planning for 2011, your response
will be so helpful.
CURRENTLY
Coming up for women in August! There are two remaining Thursday

amazing grace in our lives and also a time of connecting with each
other in friendship. Don't miss the last two...Building C from

Thursday, August 26th, 8:30 a.m. we will kick-off our Fall
Bible Studies. Pick up a brochure and register at the Women's
Ministry Table beginning Sunday, August 8th. There are two
evening studies offered this semester, with five daytime
choices. While the cost of materials and childcare makes it
necessary for us to charge a fee for most classes, we are pleased to
provide a scholarship to any woman, upon request. To make your
request, call Bible Study Coordinators: Cindy Diehl 474-4894, Kathy
Pirch 474-2004 or WM Director, Marilyn Pate 472-4424.

19th, at 6:30 p.m. in Bldg C. Doors open at 6 p.m.
There is no cost to attend...snacks will be served. Don't worry
if you aren't familiar with the game...I'm told we'll find it easy to

share laughter and conversation.
Looking
Ahead: Do you like to camp? There's a fun
weekend coming up September 17, 18, 19 just for gals. It's
called "Camp Rough-It" which means tent camping, enjoying
relationships and blessings from God's Word. For more

HAS ANYONE SEEN MY SUMMER? .........It was
just here ....... and now it's gone.
I'm
not sure if anyone else realizes it, but that was just too fast!
July was another funtastic month in the MBC Youth department.
We had a great time meeting at the park, we started a new Bible

back from vacation and all of the new ones that have recently joined
our group ! HERE COMES ANOTHER AWESOME YEAR OF SCHOOL! ( for those of

Several requested to have a copy of last Sunday's
Confederate Soldier's Prayer so here it is:
I asked God for strength, that I might achieve,
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked God for health, that I might do greater things,
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.
I asked for riches, that I might be happy,
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men,
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life,
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing that I asked for
- but everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am among men, most richly blessed.
