We had a great year with the Joe Gibbs study. Our
overall attendance was the best we have had. We will start up
again in September. A special thanks to all who helped put on
the breakfast. Joel Wilson AV, worship team, kitchen crew,
Rodney Dahlman table set up, and especially to those who did the dishes,
thank you. Pray for me as I begin to look to see what God has
for us next year. Pastor Kraig

Catching her in the
act, I confronted our 3-year-old granddaughter, "Are you eating
your little sister's grapes?" I demanded.
"No," she
innocently replied, "I'm helping her share."
"Whose idea
was it to put the "S" in the word "lisp"?

Dear Joel,
Sorry, we are late with this edition...Feliz Cinco De

I think the Celebrate Friends, Easter and Burger
Bash Sundays put everyone behind a bit. May promises to be
a little crazy to with graduations, end of school years and summer
starting. Remember the Mexican
Dinner May 14th and Promotion Sunday May
15th marks the beginning of new Sunday School

Knowing Our Place in God's
Space
The story of
Gideon is a favorite to many. Of its many
interesting and even surprising features, the central theme is most
encouraging. What is the theme? God uses the basest contributions of
a few obedient people to bring about His eternal plans.
There
was nothing particularly impressive about young Gideon. By his
own admission, He didn't hail from a prominent family or tribe.
In fact, he was shocked to find out God had a plan - an amazing plan
that would result in the freeing of Israel from their brutal,
thieving and oppressive enemies. Furthermore, God's plan
involved him in a primary way. As God's plan evolved, thousands
gathered to offer themselves to the campaign; but in the end, He
randomly selected three hundred whose obedient participation would
eventually defeat a nearly 150,000 man army. Furthermore, when
the weapons were passed out, most ended up with a trumpet and a
pottery pitcher. Really? Well, most of you know the rest of the
story. Intermittent blowing of the trumpets and consequent
smashing of the pitchers during a surprise midnight raid scared the
'willies' out of the Midianites. Disoriented, they turned their
swords on each other...and Israel won a miraculous victory without
ever drawing a bow.
Fast forward
to present day Payson. In short, we need to always remember
that God doesn't need us...but He calls us anyway, and lovingly
desires to use us. You may at times look around the ministry
you've been called to serve in and feel somewhat 'undermanned', but
what does that really mean when God is behind the effort? We
often opine the lack of resources to accomplish what we've been
called to do, but what do we really need? I'm convinced that
the distribution of trumpets and pitchers to Gideon's seemingly
undermanned army was primarily to give them the impression that they
had contributed something to the slaughter. The important issue
was availability and obedience. That is all that God has ever
truly desired from His people.
As we
participate in the growth of God's kingdom here in the Rim Country,
be sure to remember these principles. First, God graciously
chooses to use me and you. It's a bit painful to the ego, but
He really doesn't need us. Secondly, significant Kingdom
accomplishment will not be a result of my unique might or power...but
by God's Spirit working through me. Is He your primary power
source for ministry? Finally, God is keeping watch for the
available and obedient among us. Does that include you?
If so, be ready. God has something exciting to do through
you just around the corner.

Student Ministries
Definitely running around crazy these days but I
wanted to stop and yell a huge "THANK YOU" to everyone who
came out to the BURGER BASH on Sunday.(Do we know how to throw a
party or what!) It was great seeing all of you and I hope everyone
enjoyed themselves immensely. Thanks for the
financial and prayerful support of our students here at MBC. Your
donations will help some students to go to summer and winter camp
that might not have been able to go. If you wanted to help and didn't
get a chance to donate on Sunday, feel free to drop off whatever
amount is on your heart to Jana at the office or into Sunday's
offering. Please be sure to label it "student camp funds 'or'
camp scholarship funds", (and please be praying for an awesome
camp experience for all the campers!)
Thanks again
for a great time on Sunday and for your love and support of the MBC
students.

HAPPY MOTHER'S
DAY from Women's Ministry! Perhaps you are not a mother
yourself...but your mother gave you life...and we pray this will be a
blessed time of enjoying the memories that come from your role as a
mother and/or as a daughter.
SUMMER BIBLE
STUDIES: In response to many requests, we have two excellent
summer Bible studies selected at this time. They are
"Kinsman Redeemer", a precept study on the Book of Ruth,
taught by Alana Wallace. It is a 3-week study, 9 a.m. on
Thursdays beginning June 9th. "Fearless-Imagine
Your Life Without Fear" by Max Lucado, will be taught by Jan
Chapek. It is a 6-week study, 9 a.m. on Thursdays, beginning
June 23rd. These studies are open to all
women. There is a small fee for books.
To sign up for
these studies, or for information on additional opportunities, visit
the Women's Ministry table on Sundays or call Kathy Pirch at
472-2004.
FUTURE DATES
TO REMEMBER: Once again, we will host a Beth Moore conference
via simulcast occurring on September 10, 2011. Spread the word
and mark your calendar. If you might be interested to work on
the planning team for this event, contact Marilyn Pate at 472-4424.
UKRAINE MISSIONS TRIP will be happening in mid-June.
Pat Kortman and others on the team will be conducting women's Bible
Studies. As in past years we have the privilege of
blessing the women of Ukraine with the gifts we gather and send
with the team...such as small lotions, soaps, gum, pens/pencils,
small note cards/tablets, ribbon, etc. Anything with liquids
must be small. A list of desired items is available at
the Women's Ministry table and you may leave your donation of items
there as well. We are blessed as we are a blessing to
others. Thanks for your generous hearts!

Penny's Thought
Is the IRS Confusing or what?
Does the Government shut down or continue? What
happened to the reduction of paper act? When I filed my return
last month it was an inch and a half thick. I filed
electronically, so luckily there were only two copies not
three. Either way, there went a tree.
It's all confusing and I try my best to keep up with
it. Now, the IRS is not sending out a lot of quarterly reports,
but same goes with AZ. What about the little guy that does not
have the internet? Guess he'll have to fend for his
self. Hmmm.
Luckily, the IRS does have their publications and forms
online. The good thing is it makes my research easier - (if the
internet is working - or working fast.) I continually try and
keep up with the changes that will affect you and I as far as the
church is concerned. If you discover something new you think I
might not know about, feel free to send me a note (or email).
On the IRS website, they list the "Dirty Dozen Top
Tax Scams". I recommend taking a look at those so we
(or our elderly loved ones) don't fall pray. You know, we have
to put our heads together to stay on top of this ever-changing,
ever-confusing government we are blessed to have govern us.
Jesus said to "give to Caesar what belongs to
him. But everything that belongs to God must be given to
God," Matt 22:21 I for one want to give ONLY
what is due Caesar, you too?
Have a great May full of sunshine, baseball and picnics.

The template says to end the newsletter with a kick,
but during this time of the year I am hoping for a homerun! We
have been enjoying getting to know some of your college aged young
people over the last few months and my wife and I are looking
forward to a couple of trips to spend some quality time with
our college aged kids this month. Pray
for safety as we each miss an upcoming Sunday. YSAP May
