YSAP Fridays 6:30

The Text went out to 30+ Young Single Adults of Payson this last week.   WHAT? came back 20+ responses.  The hook was in the water and got the desired response...no it wasn't another Bass fishing tournament at Roosevelt.  (Congradulations by the way goes out to our Children's Pastor Mark Kile who recently finished 3rd out of 137 fishermen in the recent FLW tournament.)

YSAP is meeting on Friday Nights 6:30 pm.  On the first and third Fridays we are meeting at Calvary Chapel Kitchen for Bible Study.  On the 2nd and fourth Fridays we are meeting at Scoops for Liquid Refreshments and Bible Study in their back room.  Some Friday nights the back room at Scoops will be booked for birthday parties or other events like last Friday, but that just means we will do something out front or go somewhere from there!

No, Jana and I do not consider ourselves as Young or Single, but we are happy to host those of you from Payson who are. Our two YSAP live elsewhere so if you are a YSAP's and still live in Payson come join us this week at Calvary or next week at Scoops!

Jana and Joel

Please Pray with us for the many Young Single Adults of Payson that are spread all over this country going to school or beginning careers, we desire to minister to them as well through a new Newsletter going out next week!

Jovial Jokes from Jana

Jana's Jovial Jokes Logo

This is in honor of my friend, Pastor Manuel Martinez; English is his second language.

When you write copy, you own the right of copyright to the copy you write, if the copy is right. If, however, your copy falls over, you must right your copy. If you write religious services, you write rite, and own the right of copyright to the rite you write.

Conservatives write Right copy, and own the right of copyright, to the Right copy they write. A right-wing cleric would write Right rite, and owns the right of copyright to the Right rite he has the right to write. His editor has the job of making the Right rite copy right before the copyright can be right.

Should Reverend Jim Wright decide to write Right rite, then Wright would write right rite, to which Wright has the right of copyright. Duplicating his rite would be to copy Wright's Right rite, and violate copyright, to which Wright would have the right to right.

Right?

Next dinner time as you are thanking Him for your food ask Him if there is a neighbor you have that you could bring to the Community Dinner next Monday Night?  Don't just tell them about it, bring them!

Who knows you might start a neighborhood table at our Community Dinner.

Dear Joel,

Hope you survived the recent beautiful snow we have had here in Rim Country!  God's air filter just brings us more and more beautiful sunrises and sunsets in Ptown!

FLESHING OUT THE MBC VISION

Our vision at MBC is quite simple:  KNOW, GROW and GO.  Let's clarify these three key tenants a bit further. KNOW involves getting to know GodKnow better through prayer, worship and a growing interaction with His Word at various levels.  Thus, our ministry presently offers numerous outlets to help facilitate this effort including Bible studies for all ages, Concerts of Prayer and special topical seminars on Bible themes.

GrowGROW involves deepening relationships with God and others - particularly through the enhancement of ministry-wide fellowship opportunities among our family members.  Connection Groups and body-wide meals (potlucks) are two primary means of enhancing and deepening fellowship within our church body.

GO specifically involves getting Gothe message of the gospel of Christ to the unchurched in our community.  It is important to clarify that unchurched can also include the 'no longer' churched.  Though the 'GO' aspect of our vision primary involves the unsaved non-churched, we are also concerned about presently non-churched Christians who need a place to call their spiritual home as well. Because the GO part of our vision is typically the easiest to ignore, our leadership has planned several all-church outreach efforts for 2011.  The first we are calling Celebrate Friends Sunday.  This event will take place on Palm Sunday, April 17th.  Our Key Leaders ministry-wide are already planning toward this being a special and spiritually effective GO effort here at Mountain Bible.  Your role, at this point, is quite simple.  We ask you to begin praying and thinking about whom you believe God would have you invite to this special Sunday.  According to recent surveys, nearly seventy percent of non-churched people say they have never been invited to church, and nearly the same percentage say they would likely attend if asked.  Knowing that God's will for us is to GO (Matt. 28:19 -20; Mark 16:15), we believe if we start praying, thinking and planning right now toward this event, He will honor us with spiritual success.

KNOW, GROW and GO.  This is who God has called us to be. Do you see a healthy balance of these three key tenants in your present spiritual walk?  For such a balance to exist in our church at large, these there foundational tenants must first be alive and growing in each of our lives individually.

Pastor Jim

BRING A FRIEND...we're connecting hearts and lives, one friend at a time!

Ladies, have you ever wondered "where is God?" when things aren't going as you had planned?  Have you experienced too many "interruptions" to your plans?  Have you tried to go your own way because it just seems better?  Maybe we've all been there.  Here's a suggestion:

Don't miss our WOMEN'S CONFERENCELife Interrupted  "Life Interrupted: Navigating the Unexpected" Friday & Saturday, April 1 & 2  with Speaker/Teacher, Priscilla Shirer; and Worship   Leader, Anthony Evans.

This Simulcast will focus on a specific message from Priscilla's upcoming book. Using the life of Jonah as a guide, Priscilla will show us how to respond when God's plans don't match our own and how to embrace the amazing freedom and fulfillment that comes from going with God, even when He's going against your grain.  You'll be blessed!

Priscilla's new book, Anthony's CD's, T-shirts and more will be available for purchase in our conference bookstore.  Dessert will be served Friday p.m. and refreshments Saturday a.m.

The schedule is: Friday, April 1, 5:45-9 p.m. and Saturday, April 2, 8 a.m.-noon in Bldg A.   Tickets are $12, available at the Women's Ministry Table or by calling 472-7800 X140, or emailing womensministry@mountainbible.org.

Student MinistriesHS Winter Camp

Well, another Winter Camp season has come and gone for Student Ministries, and what a great one it was. This year we attended three camps and they were all fantastic.

Forty-one of us left in early January for Jr. High camp in Williams. It proved, as it always does, to be a great getaway. It's always a joy to see the "light bulb" go on in a student's life. There's just something about getting away and a change of venue to help some kids focus and grow spiritually. I am convinced that the youth in this town, and actually this nation, face more troubles and situations in their schools and homes than they are equipped to deal with. We definitely saw prayers answered for some of these Jr. High kids that made decisions for deeper relationships with God and to rebuild their relationships at home with parents and siblings.

This year, I decided to take Leadership Camp 2011some leadership students from both ministries to a "Leadership Camp". Over a weekend at the end of January, 15 of us spent time in deep worship, Spiritual growth and social growth training and studied the Word in an intimate and personal way. This was a huge success and will definitely be part of the winter season for years to come. Soon after the camp started, the Youth Pastors from the other churches that attended wanted to know what was going on at MBC that our Leadership Students were so comfortable in sharing their faith, taking charge, and were giving and loving to everyone around them. It's definitely God working in their lives, but I would like to give some credit to their Mountain Bible family that believes in young people and prays for them continually. Please be in prayer for the future "Leadership Camps", this is a venue that will include different students each year as we disciple and train more of our youth to reach their families at home and their peers at school.

High School camp in WilliamsHigh School Winter Camp 2011 Snow this year was the first winter camp that I can remember in years that didn't have any snow on the ground when the 38 of us arrived. Well that changed within 2 hours. If you remember that weekend, it snowed until Sunday evening. The "blizzard conditions", forced the High School students to spend more time indoors, (and that was a good thing). When we weren't in Chapel or the mess hall, the MBC students were hanging out like a big family. Their mature and loving attitudes for one another brought confirmation to the goal of unifying the group as a single body of students and not allowing the natural tendency for social clicks to happen. The teaching and worship was powerful and the MBC students felt challenged and enlightened in their relationships with God.

Thank you for being so giving in your prayers and finances for the youth camp program here at Mountain Bible. You are investing in and changing lives and I praise God for your involvement!
