Dear Joel,
The "Cache" Newsletter is all about providing a
"treasure chest" of things going on at MBC.
Hopefully, you were at Church Sunday or at Family Camp Sunday,
because a great time was had at both places! If you did
miss Sunday morning, Independence Day at MBC there are DVD's available at
our gazebo on Sunday mornings for $1. We celebrated the Freedom Jesus gives
us as well as the Dine and Dunk from the previous Sunday where 24 people
were baptised at the pool.
Next week we begin a new sermon series on
"Prayer".
September 1, 2010 we want to make sure that communication
is both ways! You will find a "Cache Survey" in your inbox
whereby we as staff can make sure we are doing the "most
important" things you want us to do! This survey will ask you
a lot of "rating" questions such as: In next year's AV budget I wish
you would include additional funds for Prettier
Auditorium Lighting 1*2*3*4*5 Cleaner Auditorium
Sound ? Or "How interested are you in
bringing more interaction between the younger and older generations at
MBC? A Little (I just don't have the time)
1*2*3*4*5 I'm ready to adopt (a grandparent or
grandkid). There will be a blank comment line on each
question if you don't feel the number represents your
thoughts.
Questions like this may help us prioritize the projects we
do next year! We as staff want to serve you, the members at MBC,
the best we can, without assuming we know what you want us to do!!!
So in September be ready to give us your opinions on some of our future
directions. You will have the month of September to do the survey
online! Thanks in advance for your input!

CONNECTION GROUPS AT MOUNTAIN BIBLE

Connection groups- "Haven't I been hearing about that a good bit
lately"? Chances are you have. Two weeks ago, I sent a
letter out to our entire church about the importance of these
groups. This past Sunday, I took a few minutes in the service
lauding their importance as well. Is it possible that I haven't yet
made my case to many...maybe to you?
Just in case, let me offer a few re-engineered paragraphs that I'm hoping
will hit home with many as we prepare to launch seven or eight new
Connection Groups this fall. Why should you care if they launch or
not? Why should you make sure they do? Why should you care?
Five reasons both for you and Mountain Bible at large:
1) Connection Groups help people connect. Now
that's original! It's nonetheless true, however, that more people
leave churches for this single reason than any other. They simply
can't find a place to connect and so, discouraged, they look
elsewhere. Worse yet, if they never find a place to connect, the
spiritual search stops and kingdom opportunity is lost. Connection
Groups allow us to dramatically diminish the 'disconnection' problem
typical of most churches.
2) Connection Groups help people grow deeper in
their faith. How so? We all need others in our lives
challenging us to bore significantly below the spiritual surface.
Anyone can drift in and out of a corporate worship service fairly
unscathed. But what are we choosing to do with the truth we are
hearing? Connection Groups provide a framework designed to hold its
members lovingly accountable to the Biblical truth taught in more general
teaching contexts (weekend services; specific Bible Studies; class
lectures; media programs, etc.). By design, Connection Groups
sharpen our lives through relationships with and the life experiences of
other Christ followers.
3) Connection Groups help the church watch over
you. This is a similar point to number one, but with a twist.
It's very difficult to care for someone's personal need if the need
is unknown. Many people are either embarrassed to share a specific
challenge or don't feel they have a safe place to do so. Consequently,
the deepest of personal crisis can slide by unnoticed in the church
unless structure is put in place to protect against it. Connection
Groups provide just that structure. These groups effectively
'shrink' the church by helping church leadership keep better contact with
individuals within the family.
4) Connection groups provide a place where each of us
can 'know and be known'. These groups strengthen the support
systems of the church by allowing much of the most intimate personal care
- emotional, physical and spiritual - to take place within intimate
groups where individuals are known the best and loved the deepest.
It's not just that our pastoral staff receives an assist, but the body
receives more and better personal care - a win for all involved.
5) Connection groups provide a less threatening point
of entry into spiritual things. This is pretty simple,
really. Those unsaved neighbors who'll likely never darken the door
of a church may drop over for some barbeque ribs...and a meeting with
your friends. Bottom line, Connection Groups have proven to be a
front line evangelistic tool for many churches seeking to be serious
about the Great Commission.
What can you do to help this important new ministry effort get
effectively launched? Pray. As mentioned in my
previous letter, this may be the most important ministry launched at
Mountain Bible within the next three years. Pray for a healthy
launch and for strength and effectiveness as the effort grows.
Secondly, ask the
Lord how
your personal involvement can help it succeed. We
will need Connection Group leaders, support leaders and even home hosts
to make this work. If God lays it on your heart to be personally
involved, please let me know. As God guides, He will provide!

Student Ministries
Wow.... What a great month!
Jr. High and High School camps were
amazing. There were well over 550 campers and youth staff at Forest Home
Mill Creek in California. The meeting house was packed full of Jr.
Highers jumping and dancing and praising God. It was a powerful sight to
see! When teaching time came, the excitement and celebration rolled into
a very challenging and spiritually nourishing time in the Word. There
were many decisions and commitments made during this fast paced and God
packed week. Here at Mountain Bible we had many Jr. High students make a
first time commitment to Christ and a lot of kids decided that it was
time for a deeper walk and growth in their lives.
High School camp, which was in Ojai California, was one of the most
emotional youth camps that I have ever been to. God moved in such a
personal and deep way in ALL of the student's lives. There were only 7
churches represented by 150 students there this year. The intimacy of
Gods work was so powerful to watch. The prayer time and teaching time was
very in touch with what the youth of God's kingdom needed. There were
many hurts healed and many lives surrendered to Christ during the first
24 hours alone! The teaching time was definitely orchestrated by the
Spirit and the speaker was very open to allowing God to be in control.
There were 6 lives SAVED within the Mountain Bible Group and many others
had heard specifics from God on their lives and still others were given
new or fresh direction.
Youth Camps are considered by many churches as a time of "
glorified babysitting". Although the students do have a great fun
filled week, they are subjected to some of the most concentrated teaching
and worship time that they will ever experience. I want to thank all of
you at Mountain Bible that really see and understand the impact that camp
can and does make in the lives of students and even adults. Thank you so
much for your prayers and for the financial support and for the
encouragement that you bring me in the conversations that we have. It is
definitely an honor and a pleasure being the Youth Pastor at a church
like Mountain Bible !
Chris
p.s. ....... Thanks to
all of you that were a part of Family Camp this year. It was a blast!

Each week there is a fun activity connected to the study...join us for
study, fellowship and fun.

Financial News from Penny

NEW ENVELOPES - As most of you know from
the announcements, in the chair seatbacks are new envelopes. Our
plan was to combine our efforts into one multi-purpose envelope.
Now you all know that this is our first run. We will make some
changes to the envelopes when we re-order the next batch.
Any suggestions, feel free to send them to Penny at penny@mountainbible.org. We know we
definitely did not put enough room for prayer requests, and look forward
to any other suggestions that would help serve you better.
Thanks for your understanding and help as always.

MBC Prayer Garden

MBC Prayer Garden is between the
office and building C, across from the new play ground. God
laid the Prayer Garden upon the hearts of the Girl Time Gardeners months
ago. Starting in February work was done on both the
pathways and clearing of the wooded area. We appreciate
all who have dedicated many hours clearing the
area. People have donated benches in memory of loved
ones, rocks have been lettered with Bible verses, and last week a cross
placed on the hill. The cross was constructed with the help of about
several MBC men. What an awesome sight for an awesome
God. If you would like to donate a bench, bird houses or
become involved in the completion of this project, which is to resume in
the fall, please contact Martha Teubner at 951-3251.
Thank you to everyone who have been so faithful. Please stop
by and have some quiet time with the Lord.
