Year Ending is approaching I just wanted you to be
thinking of a few things. First, if you've changed your address
this year, please make sure I have the most current one on file so
your giving statement will reach you. If you are trying
to get that last deposit in for your taxes, the office will take
checks up until 12:00 noon on December 31st. For
those of you wishing to donate stock, we have an account set up with
Edward Jones to assist in that. Remember, we have many
non-profit charitable organizations in the Rim Community that you
could use your financial help or physical help. God bless you
for your generous hearts and your willingness to service.
|
|
There are
many local non-profit organizations that our members are a part of
and which you may want to support (schools, those that support the
poor, etc). Because there are so many, please visit the
organizations directly to provide your support. As always,
contact your tax preparer for information as it relates to your tax
situation.

A calorie-conscious woman drove past a bakery and saw
some gorgeous Christmas cookies.
She
decided to pray about it: "Lord, if you want me to have
some of those delicious cookies, let me have a parking place directly
in front of the bakery."
And
sure enough, the eighth time around the block, there it was!

It
has been our priviledge and pleasure having Ricky & Heather
Lundholm one of our prospective missionary couples with us for the
last month as they prepare to head to the field with MAF.
Continue to pray with them as they seek other churches to come alongside
them to meet their support needs. Elise like to share too!

Also last Sunday it was a blessing to have Tom & Lena Navarro
here for the holidays from the Ukraine. Sebastian and brother
David also are here. David not pictured was probably with
grandparents Pete & Sandy who are pretty excited to have them
here as well.

Signs of the Times
As you are traversing our beautiful grounds over the
Christmas season, the chances are strong you will notice some
newly installed signs. In short, the deacons helped guide an
effort to replace all of our 'Visitor Parking' signs with beautiful
new 'MBC Guest Parking' signs. There were two reasons for the
change. First, those newest to our church were previously
greeted with old, faded and barely readable, 'visitor parking'
signs. Not exactly the front line welcome we desire to begin
a potential new relationship. Secondly, which makes you feel
more wanted: Visitor or Guest? To me, visitor suggests I'll
likely be tolerated for a time by the regulars, but don't overstay
your welcome! 'Guest' communicates that I'm viewed as special
by the people of this church, and there are likely several more
points of warm contact awaiting me as I approach the building.
One sign epithet says 'I'm an outsider here for the day'; one says
'I'm welcome and likely will be invited back'. Words are amazingly
powerful, and are especially important during a holiday season when
some people show up for their one or two times a year.
You may notice as well some new and additional signage in designated 'Handicapped'
spaces. Some handicapped folks attending our church require a special
van lift, and the room to access it, in order to exit their
vehicle. To accommodate this growing number of folks, we have
now designated three spots to be 'Handicapped Van Accessible Only'
spots. This will encourage those who are handicapped but not
confined to a wheelchair to choose one of the many other available
handicapped spots, and leave the specially designated spots to their
wheelchair-bound friends. We trust that God will allow us to
minister to an increasing number of handicapped people as the months
go by, encouraging their future participation by providing ample and
convenient parking for all.
Finally, a
generous donor has gifted us with a solar light that illuminates beautifully our
primary sandstone church sign after dark. Day and
night, we want people to know where we are and who we are.
We've also purchased several beautiful 'TP' signs to go out on HWY 87
guiding people toward our weekend services and other special events
at Mountain Bible. It is my desire that nobody would miss a
special event or life-changing service at Mountain Bible because they
couldn't find our facility.
In conclusion, the holidays often draw folks to church who would otherwise never darken the
door. New signage is but one attempt to guide them to our
property, welcome them when they arrive, and encourage them to
return. By intentionally viewing the non-churched as 'guests'
rather than visitors, they will likely desire to join us again - of
their own volition. This holiday season, watch for new 'guests'
to our campus whom you can demonstrate the love of Christ to in a
special way.

Women's Ministry
What a
wonderful beginning to our "season of celebration" as we
gathered 352 women together in two buildings for our Women's Ministry
Annual Christmas Tea. God blessed us in so many ways and we are
praising Him for the Greatest Gift ever given...something truly to
celebrate...the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior.
A huge "THANK YOU" to Beth Creighton and her
planning team, to every hostess and co-hostess, and to each woman who
joined us for the wonderful day! And, a double "THANK
YOU" to the men who prepared the food and served us in such a
special way! You were great! We are happy that you
enjoyed it, too!
BIBLE STUDIES: Fall Bible Studies have just completed and the
next semester of Bible Studies will begin with a kick-off on January
6th. Sign-ups begin on Sunday, December 19th,
at the Women's Ministry table. Check the WM table for more
information as of December 5th.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Your Women's Ministry Leadership Team is praying God's special
blessing on your life during this holiday season. We look
forward to planning another wonderful year for you in 2011...more on
that next month.

Children & Family
Children's Ministries:
For this year's Children's Christmas program, we are doing something
a little different. We are teaching the kids about GIVING;
Giving Hope, Giving Joy, Giving Peace, Giving Love, like Jesus gives
us. So this year, each class has chosen a giving project.
To see how the MBC kids are giving, come join us, December 19th,
in either MBC Worship service, 8:45 or 10:30.
My Family, Job #1
Christmas is
such a great time to have children! With all the excitement
going on, here is an idea to keep the focus on Christ: Before
bed on Christmas Eve, or Christmas morning, Read Luke 2:1-10 together
as a family.

Men's Breakfast
The next men's
breakfast will be on December 17th at 6:15 in building
C. We will be continuing our study with Joe Gibbs "Game
Plan for Life". We have had a great response this year to
the series and you won't want to miss this one. See you there!!
Pastor Kraig
Renewal of wedding vows
On
November 14th ten couples renewed their wedding vows with
much joy and celebration. It was a special time committing our
covenant to God.
Kingdom Builders
Report on the
Mike Chamberlin concert. Building C was full for the
concert. Mike gave us some music and humor which was enjoyed by
all. The dessert was wonderful, but most importantly there were
many new faces that have not been to Mountain Bible Church.
Let's continue to reach out this holiday season.
On Sunday December 12th we will be having a
special Christmas lesson with music and the word from pastor Kraig
and family at 10:30 in building C. It will be a meaningful
celebration of the coming of Jesus. A special gift will be
presented to all in attendance. Have a Merry Christmas!

Student Ministries
BE A RE-GIFTER!
The following is a bunny trail that my mind took me on the other day
that inspired me to challenge students to get a little more focused
than the average kid when it comes to the reality of what the
"season" really brings.....
As Christians, we see (or we should see) Christmas as a
time more for giving and not so much receiving. That's really a great
concept, but it still has its flaws. Don't get me wrong, I really
love the season and I think that all the gifts and the food, and
family, and food, and gifts, and food, and singing, and food.... it's
all great. I just want to take a little different approach to
the giving part.
Here's where I'm going with this........ (Acts 3:1-7)
1 One day Peter
and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer-at three
in the afternoon. 2 Now a man who was lame from
birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he
was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3
When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4
Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said,
"Look at us!" 5 So the man gave them his
attention, expecting to get something from them. 6
Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do
have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk."
7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up,
and instantly the man's feet and ankles became strong.
You see, the beggar had a legitimate reason for his
lifestyle. He was lame from birth. He couldn't work, street perform,
or even hold a garage sale to raise money to pay for life's
necessities. He spent the entire day asking for money. He was sure
that this was what he needed. No one in their right mind would tell
him otherwise......... But Peter DID! You see Peter knew that money
was what the beggar wanted, but more than that, God is what the
beggar needed.
We all love the gifts, parties and gatherings that
Christmas brings. The joy that a child gets while opening the wrapped
toy, or the kiss from a loved one under the mistletoe, and I
definitely love the time with family, (and the food). All of
this is a great way to celebrate the joy we get remembering the fact
that our Redeemer was born. But let's not forget that the
"Gift" that we as Christians received from our Creator, was
given to (and for) the entire world. Sometimes there are those in our
lives that don't know what they need, but do know what they want. We
may not have what they want but we definitely have what they need!
I am wishing all of you a merry Christmas and I
hope that you thoroughly enjoy the giving and receiving. But remember
this year to give not just what someone wants...give them what they
need, re-give the best gift that you have received. God,
..........the perfect re-gift!

MBC
Encourages FCA
|
|

|
|
Recently,
the long awaited restarting of FCA has taken place for the Payson
Longhorns' High School Campus. Fellowship of Christian Athletes used
to be a thriving exciting weekly event that helped vitialize and energize
the Longhorn teams to greatness. In fact Payson's FCA used to be
the largest chapter in Arizona. FCA is well on it's way having over
a dozen of some of the most notable and looked up to student
athletes leading the way. However, FCA is not just about
athletes...it includes all those who are involved in the game of life.
"Some of the most special times we have had in the past", says
long time golf coach Denny Morse, "have been seeing our 'Drama
jocks' using their giftedness to impact kids for Christ."
There are over a dozen adult leaders involved in this upstart chapter of
FCA coming from a variety of churches around Rim Country, however
some feel that it is just another ministry of MBC, because
it currently being held in the MBC house on Airport drive on Monday
nights at 7 pm. While MBC leadership have encouraged the
restart of FCA it is totally a seperate and independant youth
outreach that hopes to take PHS campus by storm. 55 students have
already met together for fun, food and fellowship around the FCA goals
which includes:
Encouraging
all kids to use their giftedness to help them understand they are not
just the hope of the world tomorrow but a dynamic force for Christ today!
